Sponsored by The Newton School PTA, Winter Carnival is a long standing tradition in Strafford. For over 20 years, we have organized a weekend of fun, family friendly (mostly) outdoor winter activities. While there is a bit of competition for those who are interested, the primary goal is for everyone to have FUN being outdoors during our wonderful Vermont Winters. We would like to invite Strafford kids and parents of all ages to participate in this year's Winter Carnival on March 7-8-9.
This year's theme is Strafford Olympics Weekend schedule:
Friday 6pm movie night at Rosa Tyson Gym- movie TBA (Entry by donation towards 5-8 grades class trip fund)
Saturday 10am-Noon: Sledding at Harrington Hill (up behind Barrett Hall) Helmets required
Noon-1pm: Lunch for sale at the bottom of the rope tow
1-3pm: Skiing/Snowboarding at Harrington Hill. Slalom and a jump competition, plus open skiing and riding while the rope tow is operating 1-4pm
7pm: Bonfire with s'mores at hot chocolate and Ice Skating at the rink on Varney Field.
ANYTIME: Build a snow sculpture at the school, on Murray field or Varney field. Sculptures will be judged at 3pm on Sunday, so be sure yours is complete!
Sunday 12-3pm: hot dogs and various events at Varney Field running simultaneously:
Cross Country skiing (equipment provided if necessary)
Paintball Biathlon (equipment provided if necessary)
